Seat Cushion Fireblock Testing

Seat Cushion Fireblock Testing evaluates the fire performance of aircraft seat cushion assemblies when exposed to a high-intensity oil burner flame. The Fireblock Test measures cushion weight loss and the char length produced on the dress cover and underlying foam materials to help demonstrate compliance with applicable requirements under 14 CFR §§ 25.853(c) and 29.853(b). Applicable seat cushion materials also undergo 12-second vertical testing to support compliance with 14 CFR §§ 25.853(a) and 29.853(a). ACES performs Fireblock testing for a variety of aircraft seating components, including seatback, bottom, headrest, footrest, and leg-rest cushions, with in-house testing capabilities that support both individual evaluations and larger certification programs.
