FAA DERs

ACES provides comprehensive FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) services to support aircraft certification, modification, repair, and compliance projects. With expertise across structures, flammability, electrical systems and software, and mechanical systems, ACES helps customers navigate complex FAA requirements efficiently and confidently. By combining experienced DER oversight with in-house engineering and testing capabilities, ACES can coordinate multiple aspects of the certification process within a single organization—reducing delays, simplifying communication, and providing practical solutions tailored to each aircraft and project.

Every aircraft project presents its own structural requirements. ACES works with a versatile network of Structures DERs to provide the specialized expertise required for each individual project.

Capabilities range from basic material property testing and modifications to existing aircraft monuments to complete interior reconfigurations and structural repairs. By matching the appropriate expertise to each project, ACES helps customers efficiently address structural requirements while keeping certification efforts moving forward.

ACES' flammability testing laboratories are supported by fully authorized, in-house DERs, highly trained technical specialists, and an experienced engineering team. Redundant equipment and personnel help minimize downtime and keep customer projects progressing efficiently.

ACES maintains authorizations under the following regulations, along with special delegations for Major Repairs and Major Alterations:

  • 14 CFR Part 23

  • 14 CFR Part 25

  • 14 CFR Part 27

  • 14 CFR Part 29

These capabilities allow ACES to provide comprehensive flammability testing and certification support across a broad range of aircraft applications.

ACES Electrical Systems & Software DERs provide certification support for aircraft electrical and electronic systems, including testing, system safety analysis, ground testing, and DO-160 qualification requirements.

Working alongside ACES flammability and structures DER resources, the electrical team provides coordinated support for installations involving wiring modifications and aircraft power system changes. This integrated approach helps simplify certification coordination and move complex installations toward approval.

ACES Mechanical Systems DERs bring extensive experience to aircraft system modifications involving oxygen, air conditioning, hydraulic, pneumatic, potable water, and waste systems.

Mechanical systems certification can also be coordinated with ACES Interior Floorplan and Compliance Inspection DER resources. Bringing these disciplines together reduces unnecessary coordination between multiple organizations and allows customers to focus more attention on the aircraft and interior itself.
